TASHA'S STORY
In 2019 I went to an ecstatic breathwork workshop in Portugal. During it I became aware of how tight my mid-back felt, and that I tended to breathe mostly into my chest.
Afterwards I started exploring comfortable breathing lower into my belly and ribs. For me, it brought a noticeable change in how I felt day to day. Chest breathing isn't wrong — everyone breathes differently — but noticing my own habit gave me more choice.
That curiosity led me to train in breathwork and bring it together with my work as a massage therapist and personal trainer. I noticed that many of my clients who work at desks carried tension in their neck and shoulders, and that a little awareness of breath and posture often helped them understand what they were feeling.
In 2021 a somatic dance event showed me another side of movement: expressive, playful and non-linear. Movement didn't have to be about reps or getting it right. It could simply be a way to listen.
The aim is practical independence. Over time you can learn to recognise when relaxation might help, when simple awareness is enough, when to get moving — and when it's time to speak to a qualified medical professional.
This is general wellbeing education, not medical treatment, and it isn't a cure for any condition. Work within what feels comfortable. If you have pain, symptoms that worry you, or a health condition, please seek professional evaluation.
